PROTEST SHUTDOWN OF UTOROGU GAS PLANT: NOW THE MASTERMINDS ARE EXPOSING THEIR GREED, IGNORANCE
After hiring strangers and ignoramuses to lead a selfish racket protest to shut down the Utorogun Gas Plant and pocketed N15Million gratification in the process, the depraved leaders of Utorogun Gas Plant host communities are coming out to expose their greed and misinformation of their communities.
When on 3rd April,2025 a gathering of majority hired impostors calling selves host communities disrupted operations at the Utorogu Gas Plant, the most strategic asset in OML 34, not only did we easily deduce it was sponsored for selfish reasons, we also asserted how the action exposed the poor leadership selection which robs the host communities of meaningful development from the oil companies social investments in their domains.
Nearly two weeks after making my position clear on the unwise protest, the sponsors in the guise of rejoinder are further indicting selves by highlighting the critical inconsistencies that made the protest ill-advised while padding their claims with a mix of lies and half-truth.
Puerile Lies, Half-truths & Propaganda To Justify A Racket Protest:
1. You rent a crowd to protest non release of PIA funds to HCDB, but not only was the OML 34 HCDB Chairman not present to assert the grievances. The chairman denied knowledge of the protest, that he wasn't informed or aware of it.
2. They complained of denial of host communities' benefits, but the communities Executives took a hide when it was time to express the grievances, leaving the talk to total strangers not traceable to the host communities. One of them, some ignoramus by the name Godwin Okporoko, said to be a Governor's Aide goofed in front of TV cameras that Utorogu Gas Plant supplies electricity to many parts of Nigeria and beyond. What a shame.
3. The most embarrassing: The actual communities chairmen in damage control, after I pointed to their disgraceful racket protest, are claiming they set up turbine for 24 hours electricity supply to residents and what's stalling its takeoff is the Utorogun Gas Plant insisting on selling to them the gas to power the turbine.
Bundle of lies and half truths. These are the thieves and liars OML 34 host communities, particularly Utorogu Gas Plant's immediate hosts, have as leaders. In coming days I shall interrogate and call to question NEPL, the Community Leaders and Government Rep that make the GMoU Board that defrauded the people with a 419 turbine.
Contrary to this fraud Iwhrekan, Otughievwen and Otor-Udu Communities chairmen claimed in the guise of rejoinder to my comment against their racket protest, there is no turbine anywhere.
What they call turbine are two gas generators of 500KVA each which cannot power the three communities. They paint the Utorogu Gas Plant as denying them gas, but only 'mumu' and thieving community leaders and the GMoU board would fail to negotiate the gas to run the power project before getting into installation.
They will soon explain how they blew N1.2Billion on installation of under capacity gas generators in a compromised GMoU.
4. They hired protesters to match against selfish issues known only to the protest sponsors supports. What about the N15Million appeasement they received?
Have they disclosed that to the communities they claim to represents? Did they even disclose the appeasement money to the protesters they gave pittance to fly placards.
Where is the N15Million in the rejoinder and how was it shared? After collecting appeasement to call off protest who would take you serious with your demands and childish presentations.
5. I blame NEPL for encouraging shutdown of Utorogu Gas Plant. Yes, they are encouraging it, reason they gave the sponsored protesters money and cows. If the ignorant community leaders mean well they would consult before jumping to create problems where there are none, dissipating energies on the mundane and blind to the critical challenges.
NNPCL and its subsidiaries should remain as regulators and leave operations of OML 34 to ND Western Ltd fully just as Seplat is operating OML 4, 38 and 41 Assets on behalf of the JV partners. Heritage is operating OML 30 without involvement of NEPL.
The problem is NEPL and nothing more.
We shouldn't be deceived by strangers to set our communities on fire while their communities remain peaceful. While we are asking oil companies to return to Delta state, some reckless people are deliberately creating unnecessary hostile environment in Delta.
It is a pity that Delta youths and some elders have not learnt from past mistakes. We need a conducive atmosphere in Delta. We need more investments in Delta and not pockets of troubles.
If there must be improvements we should use dialogue to get things done and not by shutdown of critical facilities. We need sustainable peace in Utorogu and not troubles.
