EFCC: WHEN AKPABIO GOT HONEST WITH THE TRUTH
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio is alleged to be corrupt but he has said the truth and nothing but the truth about the nuisance called Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
EFCC has long lost relevance. I don't know why EFCC has not been merged with the police. EFCC officials are only interested in witch-hunting those who disagree with the President in power.
Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is moving scot free as we speak. In some cases EFCC agents are being used by money lenders/landlords and tenants to collect debts and rents. EFCC now dabbles into rent and debt matters. Is that why EFCC was set up? Selective arrests and prosecution.
On the allegations raised by Akpabio that EFCC seized properties of corrupt politicians they never accounted for. EFCC is not being checkmated. All former EFCC bosses have been indicted of corruption except Nuhu Ribadu.
They all end up being corrupt like the politicians so what is the point of retaining an agency that is corrupt and being used for selective prosecution and arrest.
Okowa's N1.3Trillion case is forgotten. Why use public money to fund a corrupt EFCC that goes after select individuals that will end up with poor prosecution and aid corruption.
After Ribadu EFCC became useless. Merge EFCC to the police to save jobs of their officials and nothing more. They deserve to be scrapped as they add no value but do selective arrest and prosecution and also turn to debt and rent collectors being used by money lenders, tenants and landlords.
They go after frivolous petitions and nothing more. Precisely 2024, a landlady from Warri was molested and detained for 9 days by EFCC in their zonal office in Benin for frivolous allegations that have no iota of merit.
Akpabio is right in his opinion about EFCC.
