DRIFT TOWARDS ONE PARTY STATE, A DANGEROUS TREND FOR NIGERIA
It's a dangerous trend for democracy and governance in Nigeria.
Nigeria democracy is fast failing and something urgent must be done to remedy the political situation.
Nigeria has almost turned into a one party state. The beauty of democracy is competition by the opposition. Where the major opposition, PDP, has been collapsed into the ruling APC, do we call this democracy?
In Delta state Gov Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa have collapsed the entire PDP which brought them to power.
They have moved the entire state PDP structure into APC, leaving some stooges behind to act for them in the PDP. In the end they will sponsor some weak candidates in the PDP to contest with the APC, now Delta state's new ruling party.
The supposed 2027 election has been hijacked, concluded by ruling APC. All they are waiting for is INEC to declare election results in 2027. Very shameful of APC administration led by President Bola Tinubu and INEC.
How do we improve governance in Nigeria if one party system is encouraged by Nigerian politicians? Everyday we hear of politicians endorsing Oborevwori and President Tinubu ahead of 2027.
No more restrictions by INEC on election matters. INEC no longer regulate elections. It is dangerous elections are being regulated by APC led by Tinubu and APC governors in all the states. INEC is no longer in control.
In April and May 2025 Tinubu and all supposed APC governors are already campaigning and endorsing candidates of their choices for election that is supposed to hold in 2027.
It is shameful that Nigerian democracy has been rendered baseless by politicians who trade with politics as special commodity.
Nigeria is known as a country where politics has replaced commerce and industry. Politics is the booming business in Nigeria and no doubt about it.
