THE SELF-DRIVEN INTEREST OF GOVERNOR OKOWA
Should we call the last minute and hasty road rehabilitation works of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, a self-driven election agenda or what? The big question to ask is: if Governor Okowa is not contesting for the gubernatorial race in the 2019 election, would he have embarked on any last minute hasty road patch work at all in the State? The answer to that question is quite evident. The only reason he is doing this last minute hasty road patch works, which has been begging for a proper maintenance for the past three years plus, is simply because he is contesting for his second tenure.
Sadly, we also certain that if elected, he will obviously abandon what he is doing now and perhaps, most of his responsibilities as a State Governor. Who is fooling who? Again, no reasonable and goal-oriented State Governor who means well for the people he is meant to govern, will wait to the end of his/her first tenure before he/she will pretentiously start patching roads that are already going bad, which is because the road patch works are not properly coated with asphalt. Just yesterday Sunday Dec. 16,2018, I saw them patching the road around Cinema site in Okumagba Avenue Warri, which has been bad in the last three years plus.
The Okowa administration suddenly woke up to start doing what they were meant to do as a government in the last three years, and the saddest part is that they are not even doing a proper work. All of this goes to justify the fact that the Okowa Government is a complete failure, and such a government has overstayed its welcome and surely needs to be replaced. By his recent actions in the 2019 election, it is evident that if elected, Governor Okowa will completely abandon his constitutional responsibilities in addressing infrastructural needs of the State because he would no longer be required to recontest again since it will then be his second and last tenure.
All we can say is that Deltans and Nigerians should support wisely and vote wisely, by voting Governor Okowa out. It is obviously evident that the road patch works in Warri and environs by Governor Okowa is for the purpose of his governorship race. That is not a trait of any responsible government that means well for the people and actually wants to serve.
