SYRIA & NEED FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA

SYRIA & NEED FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA

I totally align with Dr Emmanuel Ojameruaye on his reflection, “The Fall Of Bashar Al-Assad Regime In Syria: Lessons For Nigerian & African Leaders.

Lesson 1: Dynasty rule can only last for a period of time, it will sooner or later come to an end abruptly and sometimes tragically. Nigerian politicians who are positioning their children and cronies to rule forever should take note.

2. No condition is permanent. The hunter today may become the hunted tomorrow. Rule well and do not oppress your people so that your legacy will endure and you and your family will not be hunted in future or end up in exile.

3. You cannot rely on external support (govt and international organizations) and your security operatives inclusive of the Police,DSS & Military to prop up your govt. They can abandon you when you need them most once you become an embarrassment and they no longer need you.

4. The security operatives must be on the side of the people, not on the side of dictators and oppressors. The people can conquer security operatives or security apparatus when they are pushed to the wall and are united."

There is need for Nigerian leaders to deliver good governance and stop planting their children and cronies to take over from them because such imposition as family inheritance and private business is dangerous. It won't last.

There is nothing wrong if one children aspire to be leaders if they worth or merit it. Children who never worked any where to acquire knowledge and skills of management and leadership being planted by parents who are leaders is dangerous for any country to develop.

If they want their children to be leaders let them develop themselves in the corporate world or be engaged in one thing after college degrees to build themselves in any field of their interests and not just imposing their children to take over governance from them as they are aging.

How do you expect a person who never worked any where  to develop self or perform any role of leadership and management? What do you expect from such person?

They only know how to enjoy ill-gotten wealth stolen from public treasury by their parents. Assad of Syria who depended on Russia was disgraced out of power and flee from Syria.

Putin was no longer interested in helping him when he discovered that Assad was not willing to build a strong and united nation. Russia didn't step in as usual to help Assad because he was not ready to deliver good governance for his people.

He was only interested in amassing wealth and building a family dynasty like his father. The people were tired of him and wanted him out by all means. His military couldn't help him to sustain power and Putin was not ready to help further so Bashar Al-Assad flee the country shamefully.

According to ABC News, "Putin could have sent more fire power- but he didn't. If Putin had wanted to he would have sent in more military fire power."

According to online report, "ABC News confirmed Russia moved key military assets away from their post in Syria earlier in December 2024. The writing was on the wall for Russia. Throwing more resources at Syria was not going to turn things around for Bashir al-Assad."

The big lesson here for Nigerian leaders is to heed to advice and embrace good governance while they should ignore praise singers and unnecessary programs that are wasteful.

Good governance is the answer and no amount of propaganda by comedians and praise singing will enthrone good governance. Good governance is not wishful thinking and attending parties by leaders rather than development.

The foreign power will fail you like they have failed to protect Assad.
