ON APC's CHANGE AGENDA NOT AS EXPECTED, AND THE PDP REAPING WHAT IT HAS SOWN
When the APC came on board with its Change Agenda as the ruling party at the Presidency level, they came with a lot of promises. But it appears there are areas where things have not gone as expected, as many school of thoughts, have been asking where is the Change? Where is the promised Change? Agreed that Nigerians are disappointed with the APC Change Agenda, especially in governance and election politicking, which they have not lived up to the high expectations of Nigerians, but this is obviously as a result of the 'Nigerian Factor' - which again, was sown as a seed, created and made worst by the PDP right from 1999 till date.
When it comes to elections not being credible in Nigeria, it was started by the PDP right from 1999, and this has continued till date by other political parties. The slogan then was "PDP is the largest political party in Africa." The strategy then was to take the Nigerian political entity as a One Party State, even though we had many political parties. As such, when a State Governor, like we have in Delta State, was elected under the platform of the PDP, the rest of the elections that will follow at the Local Government Council level, and State House Assemblies, will end up producing all PDP members as winners. That was how they made Delta State a PDP State (including all its 25 LGAs), right from 1999 till date. Ibori started it, followed by Uduaghan, and now Okowa.
In fact, the Local Government Chairmen were never elected but were selected/appointed by the PDP Governors of Delta State on seat. Even when a politician contests under the platform of another political party other than the PDP, that person is coerced to join the party one way or the other. In other words, once the PDP politician is at the apex Executive Government, the rest of the seats at the Council level and House of Assembly level will be made PDP politicians. Like Delta State, this was the situation in most States across the country, including the Federal Government.
There was no strong opposition party in the country, and the PDP was doing what they were doing with impunity. Until the APC was able to muscle the PDP out at the Federal level, and since then, the tables have turned, and we are now beginning to see the APC replicating themselves across the political landscape of the country. Which is why we wonder why the PDP are now crying foul? Whatever they see happening in the country’s electoral process today, including the 'rain of dollars to party delegates', they should acknowledge that it was them (PDP), that started it. So they should not complain. Like the Holy Bible says: "Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. A man REAPS WHAT HE SOWS.
