OGBORU REMAINS THE SOLID OPPOSITION ROCK IN DELTA STATE - THE NAY SAYERS SHOULD KEEP QUIET
Without mincing words, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, undoubtedly remains the main pillar, and the only known opposition in Delta State politics right from 2003 to date. Truth is, without Ogboru there is no strong opposition in Delta State. Ogboru remains the force that makes the ruling party at the State level to sit up.
When we carefully and critically look around, we would agree with the fact that Ogboru has strategically taken a very special place and stand in Delta State politics. Without Ogboru, we strongly doubt if there will be a strong opposition in the State.
Truth is, whether we like it or not, we need such an opposition for democracy to thrive, which is what Ogboru offers at the moment in Delta State politics. And of course, one which we also believe would eventually be turned around for the current ruling class to be in the opposition. Just like we witnessed at the Federal Government level in 2015. That is the beauty of democracy.
Without the opposition, the State ruling party and James Ibori, would have taken people more for granted, and they would have taken all the money without one project on ground, and damn the consequences. Ogboru remains a force to be reckoned with. Many politicians have ridden on his back to fame. And some even abandoned the ladder they used to climb to the top.
We believe the Delta State public should accord Ogboru the respect he surely deserves for being in the opposition since 2003 till date in Delta State. It only takes a principled, well-deciplined man of integrity to remain that committed to a cause, even when all the odds are against him most of the time. Ogboru is a man that should be given respect across all parties and non politician alike in Delta State and in the country. I respect, and have high regard for him for being remaining stable in the opposition in Delta State politics. This is a glare fact that cannot be denied. Honour should be given to whom is due.
The attention the Urhobo politicians of Delta Central and Delta South are getting today in Delta State politics, is simply the fear of Ogboru that is pushing the successive governors of the State to recognize them. Ogboru's stance has somewhat created a balance in the State politics.
It is therefore wrong and out of place for some elites and comedians in the State to say that Ogboru is a failure. Ogboru is a man of integrity, hence he has remained in the opposition all these years. It would not have cost him anything to join the band wagon like others who jump from party to another in search of where it will favour them. Those criticising him, if they have the opportunity he has, they would have been bribed to join the PDP at the State level to join them to steal public money. So, let all the nay sayers, busy bodies and negative commentators keep quiet, and accord respect to who deserves it.
