MY ONLY MESSAGE TO DELTANS AS DELTA STATE CLOCKS 28
Regardless of the fact that there indeed so many things we can look back at, and talk about, as Delta State clocks 28 years of its creation, however, I only have one message to all Deltans – and that is the urgent need for us all to right the wrong, the gross mistake and injustice made some years ago - by relocating the Delta State Capital from Asaba to Warri.
There is no better time, other than now, to correct this injustice and oppression, which was forcefully made by the former military head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, to please/satisfy his in-laws and selfish needs. This issue is not a political party affair between the APC and PDP. It is far beyond that. Let it be reiterated here again that Warri, which was the Colonial Capital of the then Warri Province, remains the most appropriate and most suitable city-area for the Capital of Delta State. The military Dictator, Babangida, only created a “problematic situation” in the State, which many stakeholders like us, have been urging that it be corrected for posterity sake.
It is in the light of this that we are calling/urging the Delta Central and Delta South politicians/elites and Lawmakers, both at the National and State levels, to unite and correct this injustice that was made during the creation of Delta State 28 years ago. Delta South and Delta Central politicians/elites and Lawmakers should not be comfortable with Asaba being the capital city of Delta State because in actual fact, the State capital ought to be the city of Warri, based on historical grounds.
THE TIME TO CORRECT THIS DELIBERATE MISTAKE/ERROR/INJUSTICE IS NOW
