IS THERE ANY LIMIT TO GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI'S HUMILIATION OF URHOBO NATION?
When, with all sense of justification, we say Governor Sheriff Oborovwori delights in mocking and bringing UPU, Urhobo Traditional Council, indeed Urhobo nation into disrepute, his goons and bootlickers say we are picking on him.
November 28, Governor Oborevwori, standing like a loyal subject, presented Staff of Office to the Asagba of Asaba. The Asaba monarch received the staff, conveniently seated on his royal stool. The Asagba was the one receiving, yet he, keeping through with his regal carriage, remained on his seat to receive from a standing governor.
This was same Oborevwori I appealed to, urged his appointees and associates to tell him to please personally present Staff of Office to the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom, knowing the significance of his physical presence to affirming Urhobos ownership stakes in Warri Township.
Sheriff refused. His feedback excuse was that presenting Staff of Office was a duty he has delegated to his Deputy. It turned out he was only too big to present staff to an Urhobo monarch. He went to Asaba, bowed and presented to the Asagba Of Asaba.
Fast-forward to Saturday 8 December 2024, same governor who was so humble before the Asagba Of Asaba sat so imperiously, beaming with such scornful smile at beggarly 'Ivie Urhobo' who jointly presented him 'Omorotomo' of Urhoboland.
Here, the Governor was the receiver, beneficiary. You expect he be more enthusiastic, humble, but not Oborevwori. He sat with that sacrilegious smile and 'Ivie Urhobo', led by HRM Abe 1 Of Uvwie Kingdom including Okobaro Of Ughievwen stood beggarly before an Urhobo son, to present him a chieftaincy title.
Even the Orodje of Okpe, and Chairman, Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, stood before his own subject, the governor, to join the partners in bootlicking of Oborevwori, for how much stomach infrastructure?
That is what you get when you impose a community tyrant, narrow minded leadership misfit with respect for nobody, as an Urhobo governor. He calls self Elder Oborevwori. Elder to who?
And for a massively boycotted UPU Day under a UPU leadership that is an appendage of the tamed, praise singing disciples of the governor, there was nobody at Ovwiamuge to tell governor "Oya arue yivwo".
A subject sits before his Ovie standing. In the days of Benjamin Okumagba, Oborevwori would have been told, "woyi vwaro". He dare not seat before a standing UPU PG, talk much of seating to receive chieftaincy title from standing 'Ivie Urhobo'.
"Eh Urhobo! Ojatunu".
