ENOUGH OF THE KILLINGS IN PLATEAU STATE AND OTHER STATES - THE NEED FOR URGENT STEPS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PRESIDENCY
While we wholeheartedly condemn in its totality the recent mindless killings and ransacking of communities in parts of Plateau State, we equally call on President Muhammadu Buhari to take prompt steps in ensuring that these unjustified spilling of innocent bloods are stopped with immediate effect and. As the Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the onus lies on the President to take pragmatic steps to end these killings, even if it means replacing incompetent Security Chiefs that are found slacking in addressing this issue.
Whatever the case may be, there is urgent need for the Presidency to bring to book, all the perpetrators of this evil act, particularly all the sponsors of this reckless killings of Nigerians. In my own opinion, it is evidently clear that these people are not cattle rearers (herdsmen), but they are nothing but a 'terrorists group' who are disguising as herdsmen allegedly being sponsored by some Nigerian politicians that are obviously against President Buhari's administration over his war against corruption.
Like they say, when you fight corruption, corruption will fight you back and more intensely. The videos and statements going around on social media accusing President Buhari of complicity in the herdsmen killings in Northern Nigeria, are obvious blackmails meant to tarnish the image of President Buhari and his administration. I am not speaking for President Buhari, but I am only expressing my opinion/views to Nigerians and the way I see this issue based on what has been happening in the country?
President Buhari, as the current number one citizen of the country, has declared his intention to contest in the 2019 Presidential election. So, I really don't believe the same President Buhari, who is still in the driving seat of the country, will be the one sponsoring the killings of innocent Nigerians. Agreed that he is a fulani, but that still does not mean he will be the one behind these killings. A man who seeks to be re-elected as President, will not sponsor killer-herdsmen to violently cut short the lives of many Nigerians that he is leading. I don't think President Buhari will not be causing crises in his own led-administration. I think we need to be open-minded when we speak and consider the realities surrounding such issues about the country and not playing politics every time. I feel bad for those politicians fighting President Buhari by sponsoring the killings of their own people, just to pave way for them to grab political power from Buhari at all cost.
What kind of quest and taste for power is that, one that will push a politician to kill his own people to grab political power? Some of these Nigerian politicians allegedly sponsoring herdsmen to kill their own people are simply wicked, heartless and mean, and they will all get the wrought of God at the appropriate time. They can only deceive men with their fake propaganda through the social media, that President Buhari is this and that. Same with a lot of other fake publications being spread on social media just to paint President Buhari bad. But having said that, President Buhari needs to order the service Security Chiefs - of the Military, the Police, the DSS, etc., to bring these killer-herdsmen to book, and have them name all their sponsors. And have all them charged to court.
There is a saying that "every jaguda has oga." It is time to arrest and charge the sponsors of these killer-herdsmen to court. But I don't think President Buhari will be the one trying to disorganize his own government. This is my own personal opinion. President Buhari will not willfully sabotage his own administration. All the videos showing Fulani women holding guns and portraying President Buhari as the person behind them, are all fake, including the stories going around the social media. The Security Operatives should leave no stone unturned in getting those behind these killings and their sponsors. The blood of innocent Nigerians that were killed will hang on the killers, their financiers/sponsors and their families. But these killings must stop. Yesterday it was Benue State and Zamfara State, today it is Plateau State, tomorrow it will be somewhere else. Hence, the expedient need for this bloodshed to end. Those politicians allegedly sponsoring these killings of Nigerians and their own people for the sake of political power, should have the human-conscience to stop their boys from killing innocent persons.
I also think that the alleged sponsors of these killer-herdsmen are doing so with the sole purpose of painting a picture, which would seem like President Buhari cannot handle the security situation in the country, in other for them to grab political power. But must they kill Nigerians, including their own people, to get political power? What sort of political power is that, which will make politicians to start sponsoring killer-herdsmen to kill people?
The human life cannot be manufactured. Even eggs cannot be manufactured by human beings. These people should know that they cannot live forever. Any sort of killing and taking the life of another person, for the sake of political power, is evil of the highest order. The blood of those they sponsored criminals to kill, is on their heads and the heads of their families. But enough of these killings for political power.
Zik Gbemre, JP.
