ANIOMA CAUSE & PROF DARAH SELF MOCKERY AS NUISANCE, EMBARRASSMENT TO URHOBO NATION
After reading Prof G.G. Darah's recourse to calling me names in guise of responding to my calling him to order for unwarranted attack on Sen Ned Nwoko, I couldn't feel more vindicated on the worry over how worsening Darah is becoming a nuisance and embarrassment to Ughievwen and entire Urhobo nation.
This was not and never will there be any personal issue with Darah, but in his frenzy to get even in this instance, he delved into self indictment, affirming my position that contrary to his malicious accusation of Sen Nwoko glorifying self for calling for Anioma state, it is conceited Darah who is obsessed with self glorification.
What was Darah's problem this time? In his own words, "Sen Ned Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District addressed an open letter to his constituency appealing to them to support the cause", a harmless concern by all ramification by a political leader to his people.
Prof Darah, leaving the substance of Nwoko's message to his folks, meddled that, "Sen Nwoko gave the impression that he could single-handedly pursue the creation of Anioma State."
Just imagine, how is a man who wrote an open letter to his people to support a campaign to have Anioma state "seeking self glorification"?
Clearly Nwoko had committed no crime, but for Darah, drunk on self glorification, no one must lay claim to contributing to the fight to separate Anioma from rest of Delta without crediting him as Chief Proponent and Campaigner.
Darah was at 2014 Confab where state creation dominated deliberations. Not only is he unmindful that agitation for Anioma creation predates the Confab. Darah
in the struggle to claim all the vain glory, to what benefit I still can't fathom, even discredited other Delta delegates who participated at that Confab as though they were nominal, dormant participants who contributed nothing to Delta's aspiration for more states and he alone deserves all the credit.
Hear cocky Darah, "At the 2014 National Conference, I was secretary of the sub-committee that worked on the Delta requests for the creation of states. First, I was the only UPU-endorsed Urhobo delegate to the 2014 National Confab.
"There were two other Urhobo persons in the Confab, one lawyer and a journalist who represented the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) respectively. Neither of them presented a memo on Urhobo matters. I presented the UPU-approved memo for the Urhobo."
How else does one define self glorification? Same Darah acknowledged that, "All the delegates from Delta State and Niger Delta unanimously supported the creation of Anioma from Delta State", yet he wants he alone to be worshipped.
I asked Darah pertinent questions on his unprovoked slating of Sen Nwoko. Obviously with no reasonable defense for another shameful nuisance he has constituted, Darah dissipated his literary exuberance on calling me names that will hurt no fly.
Twisting the context of the expression, Darah says, "Gbemre should swallow his verbal Pidgin vomit in saying that 'Urhobo no send Darah message'. How pretentious? He implied I meant who sent him to the Confab. We know Urhobo sent Darah to Confab and that has got him swollen headed like he was sent as the most qualified in entire Urhobo to take the duty.
But the "Pidgin vomit", 'Urhobo no send Darah message', he referred meant if Urhobo ever sent him to castigate Sen Nwoko for rekindling the quest for Anioma state.
Darah can glorify self as lone proponent and campaigner for Anioma state. Who cares? The question he should answer is whether as an Urhobo, his support for an Anioma state was genuinely to do Delta North a big favour or it was out of sheer mutual benefit to also have Urhobo gain more dominance over a Delta separated from Anioma?
Whose cause did Darah serve by interloping into an Anioma agenda, self or Urhobo's? Assuming Nwoko delved into self glorification, what did that take from Darah's bloated ego?
Yes, Zik Gbemre is not from Owahwa or Jeremi Ward 4 of PDP but when Darah shamelessly leads his ward, cap in hand, to PDP Local Government Elections campaign to beg that his village be turned into el-dorado when his selfishness denied the community basic amenities during his time in state power, I share the shame.
Yes, that's why I told egoist Darah that today, Esaba, his hometown can't be accessed on land with cars during rainy season. A former Delta Chief of Staff who couldn't use his closeness to Chief James Ibori and later Uduaghan to construct the Okwagbe-Otutuama-Esaba-
Ophorigbala-Ighwreogun Road to his village is expecting an LG chairman to turn his community he abandoned to el-dorado".
He admits he went to the LG polls campaigns to beg for projects for his community, but that the reference was not to the campaigning Ughelli South LG PDP Chairmanship candidate, but to the PDP at the state level. Are we in general elections or LG elections?
His greatest self mockery was admitting that the abandoned Okwagbe-Otutuama-Esaba-Ophorigbala-Ighwreogun Road was started in 2006 by Chief Ibori, neglected by Gov Uduaghan from 2007-2015, and revived by Gov Okowa in 2019.
I ask this conceited Professor, between 2006 and 2019 is 13 years, you played errand boy for these successive governors, can you tell your people why they have not been able to complete a road project of few kms to your home town?
These are beneficiaries of the PDP hegemony over Delta that Darah is willing to glorify and worship till the end of days. A hegemony that award projects without respect for timelines. While they neglected his home community during their stay in power, Uduaghan and Okowa initiated bigger fresh projects and completed them years after Darah community road was awarded.
I challenge Esaba people to hold Darah accountable for the growing neglect his community suffers today in the hand of ruling PDP. Darah should come out with details of the road contract and the contractor it was awarded to. I suspect Darah knows what Esaba people do not know about the contract. He has become a negative influence, the reason successive administration ignore the project.
Darah says Esaba is not neglected and abandoned, that Esaba has primary and secondary schools, it has a health centre, piped water scheme, and erosion control embankment. Apart from being basic amenities, how functional are these things he mentioned in Esaba.
Am particularly ashame Darah referred to a health center in Esaba. He has forgotten that the Darahs over whom he is 'Lord of the Manor' only recently raised alarm that men in Esaba no longer sleep with their wives because when they get pregnant and go into labour there is no functional maternity to deliver them and the road to take them to good maternity is so bad they could lose the baby and mother while trying to leave the town.
Darah boasts of Esaba having "two Professors and several varsity lecturers as a major educational centre in Ughievwen and Urhoboland.
Omavuo orhue é joma vuivwioni roye (The madman feels no shame but his relatives feel the shame). I shame for Darah. Esaba has two Professors, 'who professor help'? What is so special about being professor, if your impact is not being felt?
What degrees do the Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, even the Dagotes on the home soil have? The impact these global icons have on the global scale, can a million Prof Darahs achieve 1% of it? Darah shined shoes for his political bosses, still do till date, played errand boy for Uduaghan and worshiped Okowa. A professor shining shoes for non professors. How market, Professor?
He says one faceless "medical doctor from Esaba (he couldn't name) is the oldest, foremost and richest medical practitioner in Ughievwen, nay Urhobo. He owns FOUR first-rate hospitals in Los Angeles, USA."
Good for the imaginary fortunate doctor and Esaba town but how much is his impact being felt in Esaba before we come to "nay Urhobo". Esaba has the most successful Urhobo medical doctor yet Esaba men are afraid of sleeping with their wives because they risk losing expectant mothers due to lack of maternity and good road. How well are his 4 US hospitals helping Esaba community?
I repeat, Omavuo orhue é joma vuivwioni roye (The madman feels no shame but his relatives feel the shame).
I shame for you, Professor Darah my 'yansh'.
