A TRIBUTE TO AN AMERICAN HERO – GEORGE H. W. BUSHWith the recent news of the death of George Herbert Walker Bush (June 12, 1924 – November 30, 2018), we can say that the United States of America, and indeed the world, has lost a courageous and steadfast politician who had served his country with all of his heart, mind and might, practically throughout his youthful and adult life.George H.W. Bush served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. Prior to assuming the presidency, Bush also served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. It was under his reign as US President that the world witnessed the Fall of the Berlin Wall, which brought the unification of the East Germany and West Germany, and also the disillusion of the Soviet Union, as well as other world-mark events. We can even mention many other roles Bush played in global politics, some of which included addressing the Gulf War, Strategic Arm Reduction Treaty (START), etc. He was indeed a man of many ‘political colours’ that greatly impacted positive footprints in global affairs.Bush was also lucky to have been honoured during his lifetime in different areas, the one that stands out most is the naming of the prestigious Houston Airport to his name – George H. W. Bush international Airport in USA.Even at his old age, he was still involved in many charitable and humanitarian activities alongside Bill Clinton and his Foundation. Without a doubt, George H. W. Bush will surely be missed by the American people, and also the globe. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the family of Bush and the American people. Such men, are the sort of stock we need in our dear country Nigeria – men who are ready to give their ‘all’ in public service for the good of others.Zik Gbemre. We Mobilize Others to Fight for Individual Causes as if Those Were Our Causes
